MANILA, Philippines — The license of the taxi driver who charged a passenger P1,200 for transporting her from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) will be revoked, according to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday.
Dizon slammed the incident, emphasizing that drivers should not abuse and overcharge their services to passengers.
“I thank the LTO and LTFRB. The license of the driver will be revoked and more importantly, he is suspended,” Dizon, speaking in Filipino, said in a press conference.

In a viral video, the female passenger recorded her conversation with the taxi driver where she expressed her dismay over the overcharged fare. The other passenger tried to negotiate it to P1,000 but the driver argued that it would be a loss on his end.
“You will not be able to operate the taxi. You fooled our constituent and this is a message to our taxi drivers: if you are recorded and caught, this will happen to you,” Dizon warned.
Dizon also urged passengers to record any abuse in public transportation and report them directly to the agency.
Meanwhile, Taxihub Transport, the taxi’s operator, said that it does not tolerate any form of misconduct or abuse against any passenger.
“We are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and are taking all necessary steps to ensure due process and accountability,” the operator said in a statement.
Taxihub Transport to face raps
Dizon revealed that the provisional authority of the driver’s taxi unit has already expired. He then said that the operator may face raps for allowing the unit to operate with an expired franchise.
“The LTFRB will issue a show cause order and they will face charges and there will be a penalty. The franchise of the Taxihub Transport may be revoked,” Dizon said.
Dizon also said that the 15 taxis under the operator have been operating with expired provisional authority since March 2025.
“All of them, the Taxihub Transport will face charges for allowing colorum units to operate,” Dizon noted.
