Pagasa forecasts thunderstorms Saturday afternoon ⁠in NCR, Luzon areas

MANILA, Philippines — Thunderstorms are forecast to affect Metro Manila and other provinces in Luzon on Saturday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 3:57 p.m. thunderstorm advisory, Pagasa said moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected to drench the following areas within the next two hours:

  • Metro Manila
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Laguna
  • Rizal
  • Bulacan
  • Pampanga
  • Tarlac
  • Zambales

The weather bureau added that similar conditions are already being experienced in the following areas, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas:

  • Batangas (Nasugbu, Lian, Tuy)
  • Cavite (Magallanes, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Alfonso, Tagaytay)
  • Quezon (Atimonan, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, Macalelon, General Luna, Lopez)

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the Pagasa said.

Based on Pagasa’s 5 a.m. bulletin, the easterlies and intertropical convergence zone are currently affecting the country.
