LTO suspends license of PUV driver in fatal Tacloban road crash
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended the license of the public utility vehicle (PUV) driver involved in a road crash that resulted in the death of two passengers in Tacloban City on Tuesday.
In a statement on Thursday, the LTO said that a show cause order was also issued against the driver.
According to the agency’s investigation, the PUV crashed into a lamp post near the Tacloban City Airport in Barangay San Jose on Tuesday.

LTO Region 8 Regional Director Ledwino Macariola underscored that the driver’s move to flee is punishable under the Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
The driver is given 10 days to also explain why the driver’s license “should not be cancelled, or revoked, and/or why appropriate fines and penalties should not be imposed upon you, for your vicarious liability arising from the acts.”
The license of the driver is also preventively suspended for 90 days from receipt of the show cause order, the LTO also said.
