MANILA, Philippines — Cooking oil valued at nearly P200,000 was confiscated in Antipolo City for allegedly not being registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said.
The confiscation of the products was the result of a search warrant operation in Barangay Mayamot last June 3, the CIDG detailed in a statement on Wednesday.
Police further said the operation yielded 120 containers of cooking oil, which were also allegedly traded without a license to operate.
The CIDG stressed that the failure to register the products with the FDA was a violation of Republic Act 9711 or the FDA Act.

“Since these food products have not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, its quality and safety cannot be assured,” the CIDG further said.
Police did not say whether any arrests were made as a result of the operation. /cb
