25 students get scholarship grants
Upholding the youth’s education. This is how Vicsal Foundation Inc. sees its commitment for quality education through its scholarship program.
Among the thousands of young hopefuls who graduated in high school this year, 25 students were chosen topping the elite list as Vicsal Foundation scholars.
They were granted full college scholarship in the different universities in Cebu in which they will enjoy full tuition coverage, monthly, book and miscellaneous allowances per semester.
Since its started in 2007, the VSF has already extended scholarship assistance to 80 students, of whom six graduated with honors this year from the University of San Carlos, namely, Maria Aiza T. Bering, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy – Summa Cum Laude; John Arnel A. Gimarino, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy – Magna Cum Laude; Kerwin Jorbina, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering – Magna Cum Laude; Edgardo Abregana Jr., Bachelor of Science in Accountancy – Cum Laude; Khristine Jill B. Malazarte – Bachelor of Science in Accountancy – Cum Laude; and Danilyn Lordan – Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering – Cum Laude.
VSF is a corporate foundation of Metro Gaisano Chain of Stores.
Also in line with its corporate social responsibility, the VSF mounted relief operations to help the 588 families victimized by the fire in barangay Luz, Cebu City last May 11. The foundation headed by Luz Bitang distributed canned goods, rice, noodles, biscuits and used clothing to the fire victims, with the Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young and Councilor Margot Osmeña witnessing.
