MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. respects the opinions of various groups regarding the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said on Tuesday.

Castro was earlier asked whether Malacañang is concerned about statements from some groups warning of possible consequences if the Senate fails to act promptly on the impeachment trial.

“The President respects every individual’s and every group’s opinion. But again, the President’s main focus is truly on working for the people,” Castro said during a Palace briefing.

On Monday, protesters from the Akbayan Party, Mamamayang Liberal Party, and Tindig Pilipinas gathered in front of the Senate building to urge the upper chamber to fulfill its constitutional mandate of trying the impeachment case against Duterte.
