MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to investigate the alleged lack of water supply in some schools in Bulacan, a Palace official said on Tuesday.
At a briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said LWUA has 48 hours to submit an initial report on the issue.

“Who are accountable? Why is there no water? And how can it be restored before classes start next week?” Castro said in Filipino.
“The President’s message is clear: the government is accountable not only to the students but also to every parent who depends on us,” Castro also said in Filipino.
The President’s directive stemmed from his visit to Barihan Elementary School in Malolos City and Tibagan Elementary School in San Miguel, Bulacan, on Monday, where he observed the lack of sufficient water supply in their bathrooms.
In a chance interview, Marcos wondered why there was no water supply in the bathrooms, citing its possible impact on students’ health.
“Why is there no water? They do pay for their water supply,” Marcos asked.
“So, for me, that’s basic. Because the health of the child is affected, they get sick if the bathrooms they go to are not clean,” the president added.
Marcos, along with Education Secretary Sonny Angara, visited the schools to kick off Brigada Eskwela 2025 in the province. /jpv
