Metro Manila policemen to keep watching schools, public areas in coming weeks

/ 01:23 AM June 05, 2012

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said it would keep its men deployed at schools and other public places in the coming weeks as classes have yet to resume in private schools.

NCRPO spokesman Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos noted that Monday’s opening of classes for public school students was relatively uneventful with “no major public safety concerns raised during the day.”

“We will continue to deploy additional police personnel in the next three weeks, focusing on schools and students’ protection until the situation normalizes,” he said in a text message.

NCRPO chief Director Alan Purisima said he had also ordered the dispatch of tactical motorcycle riders to keep the police mobile and dynamic should motorcycle-riding criminals strike.

Additional personnel from the public safety battalions of the five Metro police districts will also provide support to beat lawmen.
