Rain expected in parts of Luzon on June 2

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Luzon will have overcast skies and rain showers, while fair weather will prevail over the rest of the country on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its morning forecast, Pagasa said the cloud clusters over the West Philippine Sea are associated with the southwest monsoon (habagat) and will bring rain to the western parts of Northern and Central Luzon

“Meanwhile, the western part of Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, thunderstorms, and lightning, also brought by the southwest monsoon today,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.

The rest of the country will generally experience fair weather with isolated rain showers, likely due to thunderstorms.

Villamil said that no low-pressure area or weather disturbances were detected within or outside the country’s area of responsibility.

He also reported that no gale warning was monitored in any of the country’s seaboards.

Last week, Pagasa declared the onset of the habagat season, signaling the start of the rainy season in the country./mcm
