Magnitude 3.2 earthquake jolts Quezon province

LUCENA CITY — A 3.2-magnitude earthquake was felt in General Nakar town in Quezon province on Tuesday morning, May 27, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor occurred at 4:57 a.m. and was detected 25 kilometers northwest of the locality, Phivolcs said.
The tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 7 kilometers. A tectonic earthquake is produced by sudden movement along faults and plate boundaries.
The Phivolcs recorded instrumental intensity I in General Nakar and the neighboring town of Infanta. Instrumental intensity is recorded using an intensity meter that measures ground acceleration.
Aftershocks or damage due to the tremor are not expected.
