Rider dead, 2 hurt in motorcycle-tricycle collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY — A motorcyclist died and two others who were riding a tricycle were injured on Saturday, May 24, after their vehicles collided in Infanta town in Quezon province.
The Quezon police in a report on Sunday, May 25, said that motorcyclist “Ram,” 26, overtook another motorcycle driven by “Hilario” in Barangay (village) Anibong at around 6:30 p.m. when the former collided with an oncoming tricycle driven by “Emiliano,” 71.
Ram sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Emiliano and his passenger, “Divina,” 68, suffered injuries and were taken to the Claro Memorial District Hospital in the town proper for treatment.
Citing information from Hilario, the investigators found that Ram was speeding.
The report did not state if Ram was wearing a crash helmet, as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
The police said the motorcycles and tricycle had no license plates. /das
