Magnitude 4 earthquake shakes Southern Leyte

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4 earthquake jolted the province of Southern Leyte on Friday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on the latest bulletin from Phivolcs, the earthquake, which was of tectonic origin, occurred at 1:36 p.m.
Its epicenter was located 8 kilometers southeast of San Francisco, Southern Leyte.
It has a depth of 10 kilometers.
Intensities were raised in the following areas:
Intensity IV– Pintuyan, San Francisco, San Ricardo and Liloan, Southern Leyte
Intensity III – Padre Burgos and Limasawa, Southern Leyte
Intensity II – Bontoc, Macrohon, Malitbog, Tomas Oppus, Saint Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan and City of Maasin, Southern Leyte
Phivolcs, meanwhile, recorded instrumental intensities in the following areas:
Intensity IV – San Francisco, Southern Leyte
Intensity II – Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte
Intensity I – Hilongos, Leyte; Malitbog and San Juan, Southern Leyte
No aftershocks or damage is expected from the tremor, Phivolcs said./apl
