Powerade import logs double-double performance to tow Powerade to second straight win
Omar Sneed completed a monster double-double game to power the Powerade Tigers to a 110-105 win over the Talk ’N Tropang Texters in the first game of the 37th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Sneed coughed up 32 points and hauled down 23 rebounds as the Tigers remained unbeaten since bringing in the hardworking import.
With former NBA player Rashad McCants in tow, the Tigers started the tournament with two straight losses that forced the team to send home the highly touted but ineffective import.
The move quickly paid dividends as the Tigers moved out of the cellar behind Sneed.
Sneed flirted with a triple double in his debut, piling up 13 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in Powerade’s 117-94 trashing of the Alaska Aces last Friday.
From being a facilitator in their last game, Sneed turned himself into a scoring machine and outgunned Talk ’N Text’s import Paul Harris, who finished with 22 points.

Talk ’N Text played minus the innjured Jayson Castro and Ryan Reyes. Jimmy Alapag, Ali Peek, Ranidel de Ocampo, Kelly Williams and Larry Fonacier all scored in double figures to make up for the absence of their two top guards but the Texters still fell to the bottom of the standings with their third loss in four matches.
PETRON DOWNS ALASKA
In the second game, eddie Basden scored 29 points as he led the Petron Blaze Boosters to a 107-94 win over the Aces.
Petron improved to 3-1 (win-loss) in the standings while Alaska tied Talk ’N Text at the bottom with similar 1-3 slates.
