MANILA, Philippines — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon submitted his courtesy resignation following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Marcos called for the courtesy resignations of all cabinet secretaries in a bid to recalibrate the administration following the midterm election results.

“In line with the president’s directive to realign government with the people’s expectations and ensure faster and more focused action to address their most pressing needs, the undersigned respectfully tenders his unqualified courtesy resignation as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr),” Dizon said in a letter to Marcos through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday.

Dizon addressed the president’s directive in a press conference at the department’s headquarters in San Juan City earlier on Thursday morning.

“What the president did here is such a loud and strong message to all staff and officials of the government that we should follow the directive of the president. Our focus should be on working for our fellow countrymen,” he said in Filipino.
