MANILA, Philippines—Manila Mayor-elect Isko Moreno downplayed rumors that he has differences with former Vice President and Naga City Mayor-elect Leni Robredo.

To shed light on where he stands, Moreno refuted these tales by saying that he even voted for Robredo’s allies – Senator-elects Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan – in the 2025 midterm elections.

Moreno, in an interview with ANC on Tuesday, asserted that he never had a conflict with Robredo, who became one of his rivals when he ran for president in 2022.

“I didn’t fight Leni Robredo. With all honesty, I didn’t fight her,” Moreno said.

“I don’t know. Really, that is water under the bridge. I don’t wanna answer those things anymore. But just so the records will show – no, I didn’t fight her. I really didn’t fight with her,” he insisted.

When asked if he had already talked with Robredo, Moreno said they hadn’t seen each other yet.

However, he said that he assisted some members of her group, including those persons who voted for Aquino and Pangilinan.

“They asked for it, and I helped in my own little way… I don’t have much bitterness in life. When I stumble, I stumble, and learn my lesson,” Moreno said.

“[I] learn my lesson from it, and we move on; then try to mend your ways. And if people are willing to…, you know, ‘Come. Let’s reconcile.’ I’m okay with that,” he added.

Rumors about the so-called feud between Moreno and Robredo started circulating during the 2022 national elections.

Moreno had reportedly asked Robredo to withdraw from running as president of the country.

In the same interview, Moreno said that in the recent 2025 midterm elections, he voted for some candidates who had previously hurt him.

“I voted for them and even campaigned for them,” he recalled. “So, it’s not about our politics. It’s always about serving the people.”
