Rains to drench Mindanao, Palawan, parts of Visayas on May 19

MANILA, Philippines — Mindanao, Palawan, and some parts of Visayas will have overcast skies and rain showers, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a morning forecast, Pagasa reported that the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and easterlies continue to affect the country.

“In our satellite image, we can see the long series of clouds that continue to exist in parts of Mindanao and Palawan and the continued existence of the ITCZ,” Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in Filipino.

“Let’s expect this area of Palawan, Mindanao, and some parts of Negros Island Region to experience cloudy weather and scattered rains today,” he added.

The eastern section of Visayas will also have rain showers due to easterlies, while fair weather will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to Pagasa.

No low-pressure areas or weather disturbances were detected within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to the state weather bureau. No gale warnings were also raised in any of the country’s seaboards, it added./mcm
