LIGAO CITY — Representative-elect Leila de Lima of Mamamayang Liberal Party List has confirmed her inclusion in the House of Representatives’ prosecution panel for the upcoming impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a statement released on Wednesday, May 14, De Lima said she accepted the invitation extended by House Speaker Martin Romualdez to serve on the panel, citing duty and principle as her reasons for participation.
“My decision comes from a place of duty and principle. I have always stood for truth, accountability, and the rule of law—across different administrations, regardless of political affiliation. That commitment remains unchanged,” De Lima said.

The former senator and justice secretary emphasized that her involvement is not rooted in partisanship or personal conflict, but in upholding democratic principles and public trust.
“This is not about personalities or partisan politics. It is about honoring the public trust and the responsibilities that come with it. My participation is one part of the broader agenda for Justice and Reform—an agenda I intend to pursue fully as I take my place in the House of Representatives,” she said.
The impeachment proceedings against Vice President Duterte stem from complaints recently filed in Congress alleging abuse of power and betrayal of public trust.
The House is expected to begin preliminary deliberations in the coming weeks.
