Heavy rains flood parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of Metro Manila experienced gutter-deep floods on Tuesday afternoon due to heavy rains, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

Below is the flood situation in the following areas as of 6:45 p.m.:

  • España Lacson westbound – Gutter deep
  • Edsa Tramo southbound- Gutter deep outermost lane
  • Edsa Roxas Blvd. northbound – Gutter deep outermost lane
  • C3 road A. Bonifacio Ave. intersection – Gutter deep
  • Sgt. Rivera Sto. Domingo eastbound/westbound – Gutter deep
  • Edsa MRT Taft northbound – Gutter deep
  • McArthur Highway Calle Uno northbound – Gutter deep.
  • España Blvd. Dela Fuente eastbound/westbound – Gutter deep

These areas are still passable to vehicles, the MMDA said.

Meanwhile, the Quezon Ave. Biak na Bato westbound is currently has knee-deep flood and is not passable to light vehicles.

As of 5:34 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said intense to torrential rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan (Hermosa, Dinalupihan, Orani), Pampanga (Lubao, Floridablanca), Nueva Ecija (Pantabangan, Carranglan), and Batangas (Calaca, Balayan, Lemery, Tuy), which may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas./mcm
