Sanchez daughter now a Tuburan voter

AFTER running her father’s health tonic business and taking over his unfinished court cases, Grecylda “Gigi” Sanchez-Zaballero has taken a step closer to his legacy as a public official.

She transferred her voter’s registration to Tuburan town, hometown of the late vice governr Greg Sanchez Jr.

“The family has a house there,” she said.

She confirmed that she gave up her voter’s registration in Guadalupe, Cebu City, and recently transferred to Tuburan.

She said the move had to do with business, as the family has fishponds there and a company that manufactures organic fertilizer.

She denied speculation that she plans to run for public office in 2013. However, signing up as a voter in Tuburan satisfies a basic legal qualification for anyone who becomes a candidate for an elected post in the province.

Her father had lived in a mansion in Maria Luisa subdivision in Cebu City, but was registered as a voter in Tuburan.

Younger sister Gerlyda “Gerly” Spiller is based in Australia and brother Greco is still at a drug rehabilitation center in Luzon.

Gigi’s mother, Leonarda Sanchez, stays at the family residence in Cebu City.

Under Section 12 of the Voter’s Registration Act of 1996, a registered voter who has transferred residence to another town may apply with the Election Officer of his new residence for the transfer of his or her registration records.
