Dangerous heat index expected in 15 areas on May 5

MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen areas in the country are expected to experience a “danger level” heat index on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Infanta in Quezon is forecast to hit the highest heat index at 45°C, Pagasa said.

In its latest bulletin, the state weather service also reported that its monitoring stations in the following areas forecast a 44°C heat index:
Dagupan City, Pangasinan
Aparri, Cagayan
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
ISU Echague, Isabela
Sangley Point, Cavite
Meanwhile, below are other areas expected to hit the “danger” category (42ºC to 51ºC):

Earlier, the Department of Health urged the public to stay hydrated and minimize outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to reduce the risk of heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
The agency also advised the public to wear loose and lightweight clothing to stay cool amid the scorching heat.
