Marcos wants to revisit Continuing Professional Dev’t Act
MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday pushed to revisit the Republic Act (RA) 10912 or the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016, which mandates professionals to renew their licenses.
During the 123rd Labor Day celebration at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Marcos said he is aware of the challenges faced by licensed professionals in renewing their professional identification cards.
Marami sa inyo ang dumaraing sa hirap at gastos sa pagkuha ng training na kailangan para sa inyong license renewal (I know the hardships you are going through to renew your IDs. Many of you are complaining about the hardship and expense of getting the training needed for your license renewal),” Marcos said.
If necessary, let’s visit Republic Act No. 10912 or the Continuing Professional Development Act so that we can ensure that this is not just for creating training hours for license renewal, but rather to give our professionals a fair opportunity to develop in their chosen fields),” he added.
Marcos urged the Professional Regulation Commission and the Continuing Professional Development Council to review the existing guidelines provided under RA 10912.
RA 10912 mandates the renewal of the Professional Identification Card and allows licensed professionals working overseas to attend training or seminars conducted by the foreign chapters or affiliates of accredited CPD Providers.
They may also attend training or seminars conducted by non-accredited CPD providers and apply for credit units under self-directed or lifelong learnings.
As for our professionals, I agree that you need to broaden your knowledge to keep up with the needs of the industry, not only in the Philippines, but all over the world),” Marcos said.
It’s already difficult to make a living, are we going to make it even harder for those who are earning a living)?” he asked.
