MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has raised its standby code white alert until May 2 in anticipation of any health-related instances that may arise on Labor Day.
“By order of President Marcos, the DOH is on standby during times like the Labor Day observance for the health of every citizen,” said Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa in a statement.
“The DOH and its hospitals are ready. Just call our hotline 1555 for your needs,” he noted.
Under a Code White status, hospitals are expected to activate their Operations Centers (OPCEN), which will report to regional and Central DOH OPCENs.
The DOH also says there will be an increase in the volume of medicines and other supplies in the emergency and operating rooms, particularly for trauma cases.
“Other necessities such as X-ray plates, laboratory requirements, and others, will also be available to patients free of charge,” he said.
“There will also be more funds and more doctors and nurses to provide services,” he added.
