Vice mayoral candidate in Quezon injured in robbery attempt
LUCENA CITY — A candidate for vice mayor in Plaridel, Quezon, was shot and wounded shortly before midnight Tuesday in an alleged robbery attempt in this city.
A report from the Region 4A police said on Wednesday, April 30, that Wilfredo Magbuhos, 52, had just alighted from his vehicle when an unidentified person attempted to snatch his bag.
Magbuhos resisted and was subsequently shot with a handgun, suffering injuries to his right arm and left leg. He was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred at 11:57 p.m. along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Ibabang Dupay. It was reported to local police around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The report noted that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and was uncooperative with investigators.
Police said they were continuing their investigation and were reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the area to help identify the suspect.
The case has been recorded as “an alleged frustrated robbery.”
