‘Danger’ level heat indices forecast in 18 areas — Pagasa

Eighteen areas across the country are forecast to experience “danger-level” heat indices on Tuesday, April 29, according to the state weather bureau.
MANILA, Philippines — Eighteen areas, including Metro Manila, are forecast to hit “danger” level peak heat indices on Tuesday, said the state weather bureau.
Heat index refers to the “measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.”

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) latest forecast, the highest heat index is forecast to be experienced in Sangley Point, Cavite City, at 45ºC.
Pagasa automatically tags indices ranging from 42ºC to 51ºC as “danger category” due to the increased risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.

CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur – 44ºC
Naia Pasay City, Metro Manila – 43ºC
San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 43ºC

Dagupan, Pangasinan – 42ºC
Bacnotan, La Union – 42ºC
Clark Airport, Pampanga – 42ºC
Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City – 42ºC
