MANILA, Philippines — House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. has appealed to his constituents to refrain from spreading political intrigues and threats.
Gonzales’ remarks stemmed from a social media post that he read, purportedly threatening to inflict physical harm against the lawmaker.
According to Gonzales, this individual uttered the same statement during a meeting with barangay chairpersons from Mexico town on Easter Sunday.
“Marahil, may sektor o indibidwal na gustong gumawa ng gulo. Iniintriga kami at gusto kaming pagsabungin. Pero, malayong mangyari ‘yan,” he said.
(This is probably done by a sector or individual who wants to instill conflict among us. They are placing political intrigue and want us to fight. But that is far from happening.)
“Hindi naman kami magka-away. Hindi ako nakikialam sa ibang distrito. Marami kaming inaasikaso sa Tersera Distritu. Duon lang kami naka-focus at sa pagtulong sa iba nating kababayan,” Gonzales added.
(We are not political enemies. I do not meddle with the affairs of other districts. We are focusing on Tersera Distritu, and helping people there.)
In line with this, Gonzales appealed to constituents in Pampanga “to avoid spreading information that may turn out to be untrue, whether online or in any manner.”
