Abduction of quarry worker unsolved
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—A man abducted by armed men near his home in Lubao town on May 28 has remained missing, despite alerts made to authorities, the human rights advocate Defend-Central Luzon said yesterday.
Bernardino Fabian, 59, an employee of the Floridablanca town’s quarry monitoring unit, was seized by six men, Defend-CL said.
Fabian’s wife, Perla, asked Gov. Lilia Pineda on Friday to help in the search after police tagged the missing man as a member of Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan, the armed wing of the Marxist-Leninist Party of the Philippines. She told investigators this was not true.
A witness said a blue Adventure van with no license plate rammed the motorcycle Fabian was driving in Sitio Baluyot in Barangay San Francisco in Lubao at around 7 a.m.
Two of the suspects, their faces covered, alighted and carried the unconscious victim into the van. The suspects drove toward Floridablanca. Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon
