PNR begins maintenance activities on Friday, resumes ops on Sunday

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Railways (PNR) began its annual Holy Week maintenance activities on Good Friday.
The PNR said that maintenance activities will last until Black Saturday, April 19. It suspended its train operations from Friday to Saturday.

“Ito ay upang masiguro na ligtas at komportable ang magiging byahe ng mga pasahero sa pagbabalik-operasyon ng tren sa Linggo, Abril 20,” PNR said in a Facebook post.
(This is to ensure that our commuters will have a safe and comfortable trip once the train operations resume on Sunday, April 20.)
The maintenance activities include inspecting, cleaning, and repairing trains’ tracks, including the wheels, air conditioning units, brakes and suspension system, and their engines.
The PNR added that synthetic bridge ties will also be installed.
Meanwhile, Light Rail Transit 1 and 2, and Metro Rail Transit 3 have suspended their train operations from Maundy Thursday (April 17) to Easter Sunday (April 20) to also give way for maintenance activities.
Normal operations will resume on Monday, April 21.
