LEGAZPI CITY — Two alleged members of the New People’s Army were killed in a clash with the Philippine Army in Cawayan town in Masbate province on Thursday morning, April 17.

In a report, the Philippine Army said the two unidentified men were killed in the 15-minute firefight in Barangay (village) Libertad at around 5:45 a.m.

Authorities arrested another unidentified rebel and recovered two M16 rifles, one M14 rifle, three anti-personnel mines, and six bags with personal belongings.

The report said the rebels admitted that their group was in the area for extortion activities.
