‘Dangerous’ heat index forecast in 10 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Ten areas across the country will experience a “dangerous” heat index level on Maundy Thursday, April 17, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The “danger” level indicates that the heat index is between 42 and 51°C, which may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The following “dangerous” heat indices were forecast in these areas:

Meanwhile, 63 areas in the country were projected to see heat indices between 33 and 41°C or the “extreme caution” category.

This included the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City (40°C) and the Science Garden in Quezon City (38°C).

The rest of the areas seen to have heat indices under the “extreme caution” category are:
