MANILA, Philippines — No Holy Week-related crime incidents were reported in Metro Manila on Wednesday afternoon, according to National Capital Region Police Office Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.
“As of this hour, wala tayong reported crime incident na konektado sa observance ng Semana Santa,” Aberin said in an ambush interview on Holy Wednesday.
(As of this hour, we have no reported crime incidents connected to the observance of Holy Week.)
“Overwhelming po ‘yung deployment natin, at sa ngayon wala tayong nare-receive o namo-monitor na banta sa seguridad,” he also said.
(Our deployment is overwhelming, and so far, we have not received or monitored any security threats.)
Despite this, Aberin said the PNP is not complacent and continues coordinating with other government intelligence agencies to ensure everyone’s safety.
He also reiterated the police department’s reminder to the public, especially those spending the Holy Week break away from home.
“Nire-remind ko po ulit na ‘yung mga aalis po sa kanilang bahay ay seguraduhin po na naka-kandado at nakapadlock po ‘yung mga bahay natin,” Aberin said.
(I’d like to remind everyone once again that those leaving their homes should make sure their houses are locked and secured with padlocks.)
“At ‘yung mga nakasaksak po sa kuryente ay alisin po natin para maka-iwas sa sunog,” he continued.
(And for appliances or devices plugged into electricity, let’s unplug them to prevent fire incidents.)
