1 dead, 10 missing as ship capsizes off Occidental Mindoro

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has launched a search and rescue operation for 10 missing crew members aboard a Chinese vessel that capsized off Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday.

In a report on Wednesday, the PCG said that Motor Vessel Hong Hai 16, a sand carrier vessel, capsized in the waters of Barangay Malaawan around 5:20 p.m. under moderate sea conditions. The ship had 25 crew members: 13 Filipinos and 12 Chinese.

The Task Force Safe of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday filed a petition for disqualification against Pasig City congressional bet Atty. Christian Sia over his lewd joke on single mothers and his remarks on the physical appearance of his female assistant.

Task Force Safe, the anti-discrimination panel of the poll body, filed the petition before the Clerk of the Commission to disqualify Sia for violating the Comelec Resolution No. 11116 or the Anti-discriminatory and Fair Campaigning Guidelines for the 2025 elections.
