Wayward truck kills 2 in Agusan del Sur
TAGUM CITY – Two people were killed when a 10-wheeler truck rammed into an eatery in Barangay (village) 5. San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, past Thursday noon, police said.
Eight others were hurt and rushed to the D.O. Plaza Memorial Provincial Hospital in Prosperidad town for treatment, said Supt. Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesperson.
San Francisco police chief Superintendent Floriano Ravelo said the truck was traveling along the national road towards Barobo, Surigao del Sur, when the mishap happened. “The driver tried to avoid a moving bicycle but instead slammed into the carinderia packed with people having their lunch. One died on the spot while another expired upon arrival at the hospital,” Ravelo told the Inquirer. The driver, Ely Embuscado, surrendered to authorities.
An investigation of the accident is conducted, Ravelo said. Frinston L. Lim, Inquirer Mindanao
