The Parañaque City police will tighten security around schools by setting up assistance desks and increasing mobile patrols as classes resume next week.

City police chief Senior Supt. Billy Beltran said police assistance desks (PADs) will be set up in strategic areas for the 16 schools located in the city.

“We will also be deploying more policemen in the city’s schools and on mobile patrols to protect the safety of students as well as further deter criminal activity on the first day of class,” Beltran said in a statement.

Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. urged students to stay safe not only during the opening of classes but throughout the school year.

“Students should stay within their campus so they won’t fall prey to criminals. For parents, I hope they keep a close watch over their children,” he said.

“We want to make sure that the first day of school would be fruitful for our students so that they will continue to be motivated to go to schools and focus on their studies.  With the establishment of PADs as well as the heightened visibility of police officers, we believe that we can make the first day of the school a good day,” he added.
