MANILA, Philippines – It’s time for us to move on, one of the defense counsels of ousted Chief Justice Renato Corona said Friday.

“He [Corona] is asking all of us to move on,” Rico Paolo Quicho told Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

After the Senate impeachment court handed down its guilty verdict on Corona last Tuesday, Quicho said he and other defense lawyers met with their client at The Medical City and gave him some recommendations on what to do next.

“Nagbigay kami ng rekomendasyo ngunit sa huli, personal na desisyon pa rin nya ang nangibabaw [We gave recommendations but in the end, his personal decision prevailed],” Quicho said as he reiterated that Corona saw his verdict as a closed chapter in his life.

Quicho said they would all go back to their respective offices and responsibilities. He said if Corona still wanted him as his lawyer in the future, “I’d be willing to represent him again.”

Quicho said he would continue the call for transparency in the government.

“The impeachment trial would be for nought if we will not continue our call for transparency in the government,” Quicho said.
