Waterless MPD faces power cut

/ 09:30 PM July 01, 2011

The water supply at the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters has been cut off by Maynilad Water Services for nonpayment of  some P14.178 million in bills since 2005.

The power supply at the MPD police headquarters along UN Avenue is also in danger of being disconnected due to its close to P100 million unpaid electricity bills to the Manila Electric Company since 1998.

Supt. Luis Francisco Jr, head of the MPD Logistics Division, told the Inquirer that Maynilad cut off the water supply on Thursday after a series of demand letters since the last week of May remained unheeded.

Francisco said Maynilad sent  a notice of disconnection to the MPD on May 25  and gave MPD five days to pay its bills. On June 9, it gave a final disconnection notice to the MPD and another 15 days to settle its debts.
