Doctorate for Lockton board chair

Lockton Philippines Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers Inc. president Victorio Valledor announced the graduation of its board chair Elfren S. Cruz with a doctor of business administration degree with distinction from the De La Salle University on June 25.

His dissertation was on “Family Business: Case Studies on Nonfamily CEOs,” based on interviews with seven CEOs of major Philippine family businesses.

Lockton Philippines, of which Cruz is  chair,  is an insurance and risk management specialist company which first began in the Philippines in 1994 and has emerged as one of the top five insurance and reinsurance brokers in the country today.

It is an affiliate of Lockton Companies based in the US and is one of the largest insurance brokers in the world.

Cruz served in government during the Corazon Aquino administration and held various posts in concurrent capacity, among them  as head of the Presidential Management Staff, governor of the Metro Manila Commission and board chair of the Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises and the Southern Philippines Development Agency.
