Missing 10-year-old girl found dead in Camarines Sur
CALABANGA, Camarines Sur, Philippines — A 10-year-old girl, who was reported missing on March 15, was found dead Sunday in Barangay Tanawan, Lupi town in this province.
The victim, identified as “Neneng,” would always accompany her grandmother to the market every weekend to help sell their vegetables.
An initial investigation revealed that the grandmother first reported her granddaughter missing to the authorities of Barangay Colacling after she failed to return home.
The report then reached the Lupi Municipal Police Station.

Captain Abraham Cortez Jr., chief of police of Lupi, said that upon further investigation and a review of surveillance footage, the victim was last seen with a 19-year-old trolley driver who would usually help them transport their goods.
Authorities then discovered that the suspect had asked the grandmother if he could have her grandchild assist him in holding the rope for the trolley machine.
“The suspect, upon admitting to the crime, was also the one who pointed out the location where he took the victim,” Cortez said.
Police said the suspect first denied the allegations but later admitted to hitting the victim in the head multiple times before pointing out where he took the victim.
The victim suffered wounds to the right portion of her head and was found with no lower garment.
“Upon responding to the crime scene, aside from the wounds to the head of the girl, she no longer had an undergarment. There is a possibility that she was raped so she was subjected to examination,” Cortez said.
The suspect is being held at Lupi Municipal Police Station and will face charges of rape and homicide.
