2 killed as lightning strikes again
LUCENA CITY – Two fishermen were killed and seven others were injured when lightning struck their fishing boat in the Pacific Ocean off northern Quezon’s waters on Monday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon, Quezon police chief, said fishermen Ronnel Nolledo and Ryan Miano were dead on the spot when lightning struck their boat at around 7 a.m. as they were fishing in waters off Burdeos town.
De Leon said the fishing boat had nine crew members.
He said fishermen in the vicinity rushed a seriously injured crewman, Berne de los Santos, to the Claro M. Recto Hospital in Infanta town. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
