MANILA, Philippines – A complaint from Sheriff Abe Andres is necessary for the Philippine National Police before they could investigate the incident involving Andres and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who was reported to have punched the officer three times when he tried to enforce a court order to demolish the houses inside a contested property in Barangay (village) Soliman in Davao’s Agdao district on Friday.
Only when a complaint is lodged can the police investigate Duterte’s actions towards Andres, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., PNP spokesman.
Duterte punched Andres three times for supposedly not heeding her orders to delay the demolition.
