Security guard arrested in Pasig killing
MANILA, Philippines—Police have arrested a security guard in connection with the killing of a 27-year-old man in Pasig City early Thursday morning.
According to PO3 Ardee Yap, Nicolas Portal, a security guard, is currently undergoing the customary medical examination before he is placed in detention.
Yap said Portal was loitering in the area where Froilan Sarmiento’s lifeless body was found. Sarmiento was found dead inside a factory on Pio Alvarez Street in Barangay Bambang around 5:45 a.m. His body bore multiple stab wounds, Yap said.
According to him, Portal was arrested by responding policemen.
Although the motive for the killing had yet to be determined, Yap said, personal grudge was a possibility. He did not elaborate.
