4 killed, 7 hurt in Quezon road mishap

LUCENA CITY – Four persons were killed and seven others were injured when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a passenger bus along the Quirino Highway in Tagkawayan, Quezon Wednesday evening, police said.

Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon, Quezon police chief, quoting spot report from Tagkawayan police station, said at around 10:15 p.m. a Manila-bound Ford Everest SUV (ZAH-229), while overtaking another vehicle in a descending curve portion of the highway in Barangay San Francisco, collided with a Bicol-bound passenger bus (TXV-921).

Four of the SUV passengers died on the spot due to the strong impact of the collision , police said.

Police identified the casualties as Arnel Repol, 37, (driver); Arriane Repol, 21; Harold Repol, 15; all residents of Barangay Banay-Banay, Cabuyao, Laguna; and one female who was still unidentified.

Reports said seven bus passengers suffered injuries and were rushed to Tagkawayan district hospital for emergency treatment.

The bus driver, Rainer Mabuti, is now under the custody of Tagkawayan police station.
