Aboitiz Group helps prepare schools for opening of classes

Hundreds of volunteers led by the Aboitiz Group team members trooped to the Banilad Elementary and Night High School on May 26 to paint school buildings and do other maintenance works as part of Brigada Eskwela 2012.

Aboitiz Foundation president Jon Ramon Aboitiz, Department of Education Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud, Banilad barangay captain Nicholas Leyson Jr., teachers and parents also joined the activity, which was simultaneously conducted by the Aboitiz Group.

The volunteers repainted school chairs, walls and roof of the two adopted schools of Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV), whose team members have been participating in the Brigada Eskwela for four consecutive years.

They also repaired damaged chairs and other school facilities and cleaned the school grounds.

Other Aboitiz business units nationwide also prepared their respective adopted schools for the opening of classes in June.

Brigada Eskwela is the Department of Education’s annual National Schools Maintenance Week.

It is a nationwide voluntary effort of teachers, parents, students, community members and other organizations to do minor repairs on schools.
