ANNABELLE Rama made two trips to Cebu City in the last three days to connect with “some personailties” to discuss her interest to run for a congressional seat in the north district next year.
Her cousin Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said the Rama clan members here support her, but that she has yet to make a final decision.
“If you are asking me, I wish it’s a go for her candidacy in the north district,” Rama said.
“When we presented to them (the Rama clan) the mechanics and dynamics of her political plans, there were no violent reaction,” said the mayor.
But until Annabelle decides, Team Rama’s congressional post for the north district is still open for qualified candidates, said the mayor.
Two other prospects raised were Cebu City traffic head Sylvan Jakosalem and barangay Lahug councilor Mary Ann delos Santos to challenge a reelection bid by either former congressman Raul Del Mar or his daughter incumbent Rep. Rachel “Cutie” Del Mar.
Annabelle transferred her voter’s registration to Cebu City last May 18.
The celebrity talent manager was in Cebu on Sunday with husband, Eddie Gutierrez, and son, Richard along with actors Rio Locsin and Philip Salvador.
The group came for a mall show promoting her son, Richard’s latest television series. They had lunch with the mayor and other relatives.
The talent manager’s group left Cebu that same day but Annabelle returned yesterday morning.
Mayor Rama said that if Annabelle decides to run for congress, she has the edge of being being a recognizable figure in show business and popular among Cebuano voters.
He said even Annabelle’s daughter, Ruffa Gutierrez, is not talking against her mother’s plans.
