DENR, Negros Oriental to lead activities for Environment Month
THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7), together with the Negros Oriental government, will spearhead this year’s Environment Month celebration with a series of activities under the theme, “Green Economy: Does it include you?”
The activities will start with a short program during a provincial government employees’ flag ceremony of which Gov. Roel Degamo and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources officer Eduardo Inting will be the guest speakers on June 4.
In time for the opening of classes on June 4, public and private schools are expected to initiate school-based activities such as “Oplan Linis” to take part in cleaning up school premises.
On June 6, the Philippine Information Agency -Negros Oriental will hold a Kapihan sa PIA forum with DENR-7 regional executive director Maximo Dichoso, Degamo andDumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria as guest-panelists to tackle environmental issues and concerns.
On June 16, Dumaguete City, through its ENRO, plans to hold a citywide clean up activity.
The Foundation University will organize a big fun run and walk for the environment on June 23.
On June 26, there will be an “Environment Summit for a Green Economy” to be participated by groups of fishermen, farmers and barangay population development officers.
