COUPLE NABBED FOR THEFT

TWO househelpers  were arrested for  the theft of a  laptop and other personal belongings of their employer in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Vicente Senilong, 34,  and Sally Bacoles, 25,  were arrested after their employer Sarah Jane Ruiz, 29, sought police assistance.

Ruiz on Sunday complained to the Subangdaku police precinct that the couple left without asking permission and left her 1-year-old daughter alone in her house on Gothong Street.

Ruiz said her laptop, a shoulder bag and another bag of cosmetic items could no longer be found after the couple left.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, officer in charge of the Subangdaku police, said they went to barangay Inayawan, Cebu City,  after the couple was spotted there.

Police said the couple were caught walking along a road bringing some items owned by Ruiz.

At the police station, the couple admitted that they stole Ruiz’s laptop and sold it for  P6,000 to buy  two packs of shabu.

The laptop was sold to  a woman in barangay Inayawan.  The woman told police she initially paid P4,000 to the couple then pawned the laptop for P2,000 to pay the remaining balance.

Ruiz was able to redeem the laptop later.

Police said it was later learned that Senilong was under   probation for a  theft case in his hometown of Tabuelan./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

COLLECTOR FACES SEXUAL HARASSMENT CHARGES

A LENDING collector was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a neighbor in barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Police said Joemar Molato, 27, was drunk when he broke into the room of a female neighbor.

The 19-year-old woman told police that she was sleeping when Molato entered her room through the window.

The woman said Molato hugged and kissed her against her will.  She shouted for help and the man ran off.

Responding police arrested the man in his rented room.

Molato tested positive for alcohol use at the Mandaue City Hospital where he was brought after his arrest./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

LAPU HOUSE RAZED

A FIRE razed a house in barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday morning.

The two-story house was owned by Librando Sagarino who lived there with his children and their families.

The fire started in a room where a 3-year-old boy played with matches.

FO2 Climaco Salisid said they received the alarm at 7:45 a.m. The fire was contained in two minutes.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Property damage was pegged at P70,000./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
