PNP execs: Marbil term extension ‘reinforces’ commitment to service

MANILA, Philippines — Top ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said that the term extension of PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil is a reinforcement of their commitment to service.
The police force, including all Police Regional Offices, National Support Units, and the PNP Corps of Officers also said that they are grateful for the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reaffirm his trust in the leadership of Marbil.
“It further reinforces our dedication to serving and protecting the Filipino people with the highest standards of professionalism,” the statement read.
“By embracing modern policing strategies and technological innovations, Gen. Marbil has greatly enhanced the PNP’s capability to address evolving security challenges, creating safer communities and a more resilient nation,” it added.
They also stated that the whole police force is committed to ensure “a secure and harmonious environment for all Filipinos” under Marbil’s continued leadership.

The Presidential Communications Office announced on Thursday that Marcos extended the PNP chief’s term to four more months. Marbil was set to originally retire on Friday, as he reached the mandatory retirement age to 56.

Marbil then said that his term extension will help the police body “to refine and improve the preparations we made for the election.”
