Caap: Zamboanga airport is open, in full operations amid rehab projects

MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) on Monday denied reports claiming that Zamboanga International Airport has been temporarily closed for repairs and maintenance.

In a statement, Caap clarified that the airport remains fully operational and that the rumor circulating is false.

“The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines strongly refutes misleading and unverified claims regarding the alleged temporary closure of Zamboanga International Airport for repairs,” the agency said.

Caap also stressed that there are no plans to suspend operations despite ongoing runway rehabilitation and terminal expansion projects.

“Any scheduled repairs or maintenance work at Zamboanga International Airport and other Caap-operated airports will be communicated through our official channels,” it added.

The agency urged the public to rely on official platforms for accurate flight schedules and airport status updates to prevent misinformation.

CAAP also criticized the persons behind the spreading of false information, stating that it causes unnecessary panic and disrupts travel plans.

“The circulation of unverified claims is both irresponsible and detrimental to public confidence,” it said.
