4 suspected robbers slain in shootout with Laguna cops

CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna –Police said four suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with policemen after they robbed a woman and a security at a bus terminal early Friday in Calamba City, Laguna.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said in a text message that the police were tipped off by a concerned citizen shortly after four armed men held up Jessa Belle Salibio at the bus terminal of JAC Liner in Barangay (village) Turbina at 2:44 a.m.

The robbers also took away the .38-caliber pistol of the bus terminal’s security guard, who was identified as Emmanuel dela Cruz, 33.

The robbers fled on two motorcycles but were cornered by the responding policemen in the village of Maunong.

Police claimed the robbers were first to open fire, prompting them to retaliate.

The four robbers, whose identities remained unknown as of posting time, were killed on the spot.

Police recovered Salibio’s cellphone and Dela Cruz’s gun.
