LUCENA CITY — Four fishermen were rescued, while two others remain missing on Saturday after their boat hit the concrete pole of a bridge then sank in Guinyangan town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police reported Sunday, Feb. 2, that the six fishers were on board a motorized boat when the sea vessel hit the concrete pole of the bridge in Manato River in Barangay Balinarin between Guinayangan and Tagkawayan towns around 4:30 a.m.

Due to the crash, the boat submerged. Responding rescuers managed to save four boat passengers.

However, two fishers, Efimaco Hernandez and Backo Dimailig, both residents of Barangay Sto. Niño in Tagkawayan is still missing as of Sunday morning.

Authorities in Guinayangan and Tagkawayan were still conducting search and rescue operations.
