Villar votes to convict Corona

MANILA, Philippines – Senator-judge Manny Villar voted for the conviction of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Villar said Corona’s interpretation of the law in not declaring his $2.4 million and P80 million bank deposits were enough reason to dismiss him from office.

Despite voting for the chief justice’s removal from office, Villar maintained that he believed Corona was a good man “pero naniniwala ako na dapat pantay-pantay ang implementasyon ng batas kaya ako ay bumoto ng guilty.”
